“El Colombiano”, one of the most important newspapers in Colombia, published an article in which are shown three managers of technology, women, who are leaders in computer science in a national level.
"It is a fact that women already are in the directive positions of companies that emerged after the boom of the ‘dot com’ companies and they are more present in boards of directors and as managers of technology multinational companies. They are strategists; they surround themselves by a good human team and build a confidence environment around them.
They take decisions with the fine captivation of a woman, but they answer with vehemence when asked about results. Away from the matter of genre, which looks to them like a Byzantine discussion, they favor the talent and even the capacity, as the key qualities to be par of a sector in which the change is the major certainty. Next, some of the women who came to decisive positions in the companies of the competed world of the technology.
Building a company
Six years ago, María Clara Choucair started to work in an idea which dreamed to replicate in the companies as a culture. The goal was to diminish the risk of errors in the applications and programs developed and used in companies.
Though the methodology of software testing is not new neither in the world nor in companies, trusting a third party, with the whole independence and rigor, to take charge of this, it was. The idea took shape and it was created Choucair Testing, a company with around 80 people and in full expansion.
"The personalities stick to the companies ", says Choucair, who is sure of having left her stamp on the company, which is translated in some exigency and a lot of acceleration which makes her and her team go at a thousand revolutions per minute. Finally, as she is reliable, her idea also it is, assures this woman, who reads everything what crosses her if it challenges her mind.
"A bad test can bring a company to bankrupt", adds Choucair. And this judgment makes her think every day about the responsibility it implies, as a strong commitment. Because of it, in the way for strengthening her company and evangelize on the culture of the testing, she has managed to convince the most important gurúes of the topic in order to come to come to Colombia to do trainings and share experiences.
There have been great sacrifices she has had to take in her personal life in order to see her company grow, but Choucair declares "it has been worth the effort ".
